Drink spiking is a serious crime and can have a devastating and lasting impact on victims. It may be an extra shot or substance added to a friend's drink as a joke, or dropping a date rape drug with the intention of making somebody vulnerable to rape, assault or robbery.

How well do you know your friend, how much have they already had to drink or have they taken medication? The spiking could cause a fatal or life debilitating response.

Having sex with somebody without their consent is rape. This includes intentionally administering a substance to another, who has not consented in order to engage in sexual activity. (Sexual Offences Act 2003)

Perpetrators could go to prison, be placed on the sex offenders register or get a criminal record.
