Town Centre Dispersal Order
Merseyside Police have authorised a Dispersal Order in the Town
Centre to tackle an increase in anti-social behaviour.
Between 2pm on Friday 11 December 2020 and 2pm on Sunday
13th December 2020, the Police can ask a group of two or more
people to leave the dispersal area if they are doing anything
wrong, or if they believe that they may or are likely to cause a
nuisance to someone else.
If you return to the area after being asked to leave by the
Police you will be arrested if seen. This is a criminal offence and
you may be charged and taken to court. If convicted this will give
you a criminal record.
If you are aged under 16 and in the dispersal area without the
supervision of an adult after 9pm, the Police may take you home if
it is safe to do so.
In short, as long as you don't do anything wrong, or give the
Police a reason to suspect you are going to do anything wrong, the
Dispersal Order will not affect you.
During the evenings, the Council ASB Outreach Team will be in
the area to support the Police and public.
The dispersal zone includes all areas inside of the red line on
the map. (Chalon Way West, Chalon Way East, Shaw Street, Hall
Street, Cansfield Street, Birchley Street, Cotham Street, Church
Street, Ormskirk Street and Bridge Street)
