In St Helens we have taken a serious stance against knife crime,
but we think we can do better. Hence we are encouraging
our partners to feel confident in reporting all knife crime
intelligence to the police, be it linked to adult or child. The
police will gladly take action on any information received.
This may add information to a case on an individual
or location, but more importantly it could save a
life.
The police are also happy to provide advice on any knife crime
issues you may have.

What will happen
If somebody is suspected (not necessarily proven) to
be carrying a knife, the police will issue them with
a knife crime warning letter. The aim of the letter is to
make them think about the impact carrying knives could have on
their life and make informed decisions on their future behaviour.
The letter will also offer advice on how to seek support.
Giving advice to others
If somebody approaches you about knife crime please encourage
them to report to the police or Crimestoppers UK if they wish to
remain anonymous. See the useful links section opposite
for the best places to sign post to.
